Our First Year
Today is the first anniversary of ChessVideos.TV. Admin, the forum's first member, registered on February 14, 2007, and I joined soon after. We spent the first month working on the site's layout, finalizing the uploader tool, and testing the site's video software. By April, Admin was still hard at work on the site's features and I was busy promoting the site (then known as Chess-Videos.com) and recording my first videos, one of which--Basic Opening Principles--would become the site's most popular video of all time with over 3,500 views on ChessVideos.TV and more than 50,000 on YouTube.
Soon ChessVideos.TV started gaining members. Slowly, the ChessVideos community grew. Since then, our growth has accelerated. While it took several months to reach 100 members, ChessVideos.TV has gained nearly 200 during February alone. We're now just shy of 1,000 members, and still growing strong. While we might be much larger than when we started, ChessVideos.TV remains one of the most active and inclusive chess communities on the Internet. This is almost entirely thanks to you, our wonderful members. We would also like to thank the forums' moderators: Armis, Bkildahl, Crash, Curtains, Robofriven, themofro, and Zibbit.
To show our thanks, we are throwing a contest open to any member of the site. What kind? A chess video contest of course! We will release the details next week, but I promise there will be some awesome prizes and undoubtably some awesome entries from you guys. Stay tuned to our homepage for all the details and I promise it will be a great start to year two of ChessVideos.TV.
